204 - Representation Without Leadership: Assessing Stress and Gender in the Archival Workplace

The archival profession has become female-dominated but still faces traditional gendered leadership limitations. Documentation of this duality relies on anecdotal evidence rather than systematic, confirmatory research. To address this deficiency, the panelists developed a survey to measure workplace stress. Standard psychological instruments were used to analyze how workplace stress affects archivists' professional lives, if workplace stress disproportionately affects female archivists, and whether there are gender differences in role overload.
