Panelists discuss recent environmental improvements to the Archival Research Center at the University of Illinois. With support from a National Endowment for the Humanities grant and partnership with the Image Permanence Institute, the University has worked to improve preservation storage conditions for archival materials--including historic musical instruments--by installing an energy-efficient HVAC system and fire suppression into an historic and structurally challenging building. The speakers review project goals and lessons learned.
